Provide support and education for children & their families affected by Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and the professionals, of all disciplines, working alongside these children and their families.
Why the community needs usMany of the children most severely affected by FASD are in the Care system, making them very vulnerable and the ones most likely to have multiple foster home moves or adoption breakdowns. By supporting them and their parents / carers we help these children have the stability so vital for achieving positive outcomes as adults. We are increasingly working wiith birth families. We work with professionals (teachers, social workers, medics) devising "best UK practice" in supporting those with FASD.
Our impact on the communityMany previously "desperate" parents/carers feel supported. In terms of medical management, the UK is moving from being 40 years behind in this field to being at the forefront; we hope next to replicate this in the fields of education and social work, in particular. We are saving the taxpayer money through less home breakdowns, but, ultimately, through our work many vulnerable children are experiencing stable and fulfilling lives.
