Fenham Swimming Project provides a service to the local community and schools, also providing a friendly atmosphere and diverse programme which includes recreational swimming, swimming lessons and clubs, as well as working with minority groups to deliver special sessions. Adults and children alike can learn to swim in a comfortable and enjoyable environment.
Why the community needs usThe Pool was originally run by the Council who closed the facilty in 2003. Re-opened in 2005 as a charitable organisation with the support of local residents and supporters. The benefit to the local community can be found in a variety of areas which include:- Swimming for all ages, job opportunities, additional qualifications in Pool Lifeguard and First Aid, and for general health and well being. The pool offers a clean friendly atmosphere for customers to enjoy their experience.
Our impact on the communityThe fact that Fenham Pool was saved and then reopened was the ultimate and most posititive outcome for the community. As the community were instrumental in it's survival as the residents formed a local committee which formed Fenham Swimming Project.
