To provide information and support to individuals suffering from Fibromyalgia Syndrome and their families. To raise awareness of this incurable condition throughout our area by holding awareness and fundraising days. To join with other groups in lobbying parliament and making ministers aware of how people suffer with the condition and how difficult it is to live with it.

Why the community needs us

We provide vital information to those newly diagnosed with this incurable condition and support them whilst coming to terms with it and afterwards. Mostly women of all ages and a few men benefit from our group. There is little information available about fibromyalgia so when people with it come to the support group they have a huge burden taken off their shoulders as they can share their experiences with others with the same condition as them.

Our impact on the community

Many of those with Fibromyalgia have had a long road of illness and suffering until they eventually get diagnosed, this is because Fibromyalgia can mimic other illnesses. Once diagnosed many have never heard of the condition, so to find out there is a support group and other people with it can mean that the sufferer is no longer isolated. Our group also run a hydrotherapy group twice weekly so sufferers can relax and be pain free for a while. Many have not been able to do this for so long.
