To maintain and develop the gardens biodiversity within a city environment thus creating a safe oasis of calm nestling within Liverpool's historic Georgian Quarter. We aim to teach and inform people about the local flora and fauna and the history of the garden whilst using this project to engage with those communities attached to it.

Why the community needs us

St James Garden has a remarkable history situated in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter but in 2001 it was a no go area. A team of dedicated volunteers have slowly returned these gardens and its heritage back to the people, used by local community, visitors and tourists. Our diverse community will benefit from a safe environment where they can relax, improve their health and appreciate their local heritage and wildlife.

Our impact on the community

Enabling community engagement for conservation and restoration of a historic city garden landscape. Maintaining and enhancing a safe city garden currently used by a community of dog walkers and local families, into an ecologically diverse cemetery garden. Engaging with local community to provide opportunities for cultural events that is visitor and tourist friendly for those wanting to understand more about its heritage.
