Hi we are Hannah and Catherine,
We love Hebden Bridge and Calderdale and lived there for many happy years until work moved us away (although we made sure we came back to have our Civil Partnership in the Town Hall in 2013!) Hebden Bridge and its amazing people have a very special place in our hearts. We watched the 2015 Boxing Day floods unfold and couldn't believe the extent of the devastation (again). We couldn't be there physically to help but we can help with the fund-raising to get Calderdale back on its feet again... so we are getting on our feet so to speak and have signed up to run the 10km London Winter Run on 31st January 2016.
We hope to raise a load of money for the Calderdale Flood Relief Fund who are aiming to raise a whopping £1 million so that they can help to get people back on their feet, by providing grants to support them with emergency accommodation, supporting with the costs of cleaning up and getting furniture and white goods.
Many people are without homes and possessions and many small businesses have had to close (hopefully only temporarily), meaning lots of people are suddenly without employment. The effects of this flood are vast and it will take many years for the recovery to happen - but with your support and the amazing spirit and hard work of the people of Calderdale it will recover. Please give what you can! We promise to run as fast as we can!
Thank you,
Hannah and Catherine xx
