In the run up to this years local elections on May 7th, I'm going to be doing 17 runs in 17 wards. That's one run in each of the wards of Calder Valley and Halifax, from Todmorden all the way across to Illingworth. I wanted to do this to learn about the massive variety of people, places and locations within our area, and really get to see some of the wonderful residents and regions we all share. Our area was recently hit by catastrophic flooding affecting over 1200 homes and businesses, and they desperately need support, so I decided to add a good cause onto this adventure I'm embarking on.
Slow the Flow is an amazing charity that looks at how to use Natural Flood Management, working within a local ecology and with the natural environment to protect against flooding. With the climate emergency and flooding affecting us so desperately, the work of Slow The Flow is vastly important, and all donations will go to excellent use, to protect against flooding in a way that also looks after the natural environment.
