I have been foolish / crazy / stupid enough to sign up for two challenges this year; The British 10k run in London on 10th July The Royal Parks Half Marathon on 9th October. I will be treating the 10k as a warm up the half marathon and I will be starting training in March for both events. I see these as achievable challenges this year to not only get myself fit and lose some weight, but also to raise some valuable money for a local charity who have worked very hard for my wife, Diana. Our son, Alex was born via emergency caesarean in July 2012. The trauma of the birth affected Diana and triggered depression and anxiety. It took a couple of years for Diana to reach out for professional help and we were passed Petals information on from the Rosie Maternity Hospital. Diana was eligible to receive 6 sessions free from the charity to talk about the birth and how it had affected her mental health. These sessions proved invaluable and it has been encouraging and inspirational to see how she has improved and get better each day since. Mental Health should not be a taboo and should be talked about in the same way in the open as physical health. Petals do an incredible job with parents to come to terms with loss and trauma for new parents and by sponsoring me, you will be able to help even more parents. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and please feel free to leave a pound or two, or even more if you so wish on here. I am looking to raise £200 by the time of the 10K race and then as much as possible for the half marathon. James
