At 6.30am on Saturday, 3rd May, Dave, Liam, Katie, and a team of incredible supporters will set off on a huge challenge: the Yorkshire Three Peaks—24 miles, 3 mountains, and 1 powerful reason.
They’re walking to raise money for OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality)—a small but mighty charity based in Tinshill, Leeds, where I have the privilege to work. Every day, we support older people to stay active, connected, and independent through our assisted shopping trips, exercise classes, lunch clubs, day trips, and more.
But we need your help.
Our minibus—the lifeline that brings disabled and older people to our services and combats loneliness—is 15 years old and on its last wheels. Without it, many of our members would be stuck at home, cut off from friends, support, and joy.
This challenge isn’t just about peaks—it’s about people.
Help us climb higher. Help us keep our community moving. Help us replace the minibus and continue making a difference.
Please donate if you can – every step counts, and every pound helps.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Gayle, Dave and all of the team at OPAL.
