This year, August is a big month for me. I turn 30 and a week later I'm getting married. I thought that August could do with a bit more excitement though and, under the guise of a 30th birthday present, I managed to convince Cillian that driving around Wales in a 25 year old Mark II Ford Fiesta (two weeks before the wedding) would be a brilliant idea. I might have got him drunk first. Those of you that remember the Irish Scally Rally (and really, who could forget that gorgeous Las Vegas Astra) will know that we did a fantastic job of raising money. This year, we are taking on Chronicle Rally's Welsh "Run to the Hills" (www.chroniclerally.net) and have chosen to raise money for another amazing charity - Kingston Carers' Network (KCN) and their Young Carers' Project (YCP). You can follow the car's transformation on twitter (https://twitter.com/30withabanger). Unpaid caring and carers feature increasingly in our society, as people live longer and as government-funded healthcare struggles to keep pace with the strains and stresses of individual and family needs, especially amongst the most vulnerable. KCN works hard to relieve hardship, improve carers quality of life and reduce the isolation of carers through a large range of services. Additionally, the Young Carers' Project provide fun and friendship for young carers ensuring that children are thriving and protected from inappropriate caring roles. They really do an amazing job and we would love to raise enough money to pay for a respite activity for the young carers. Please feel free to sponsor as little or as much as you can and don't forget to follow our progress on twitter @30withabanger
