96% of Testicular Cancer is curable when detected and treated early enough. Currently around 2,090 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer, around 70 – 80 will die.
The MGF are dedicated to raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer to as many people as possible.
So, 3 Non walkers have decided to take part in the Widnes to Southport walk along with many others to raise awareness for the Mark Gorry Foundation. Myself & Emily first became involved with MGF last summer when we were asked by Andy if we wanted to take part in Manchester Pride. At this point we knew briefly about the foundation, however whilst volunteering at Pride we had the pleasure of meeting many people that are involved and committed into raising awareness of Testicular cancer.
Taking part in Pride was an emotional but rewarding day for us all. Knowing that something as little as handing out leaflets could have an impact as big as saving somebodys life made all the prancing around with balls on our faces worth while!!
So now we are looking forward to joining the team in walking from Widnes to Southport and raising money for such an amazing cause.
The MGF has a target of £1,000,000 to raise, so far the money raised stands at £183,459. Please join us in helping to reach that target, every penny counts!
For all you men click on the below link for information in how to check yourself(and if you can’t love your own balls then love someone else’s and share this link with them!) http://www.themarkgorryfoundation.co.uk/love-your-balls/signs-symptoms/
Note from Andy: I will have to spend around 10-12 hours with Rach & Emily so please think of their pain and donate generously (if it helps we can get your donation doubled through work!)
