At least 4,300 men die by suicide every year in the UK.
To me that volume is hard to comprehend and so I am trying to make it tangible by climbing 4,300 flights of stairs over the course of January.
Every flight represents a life, a dad, brother, partner, friend, and a person that deserved to feel they had more support and ultimately more options than the choice made.
Despite discourse being on the rise I still feel deeply, through lived experiences, that men’s mental health is still overlooked, and that there is still (an incorrect) expectation for men to suffer in silence and a general apprehension to reach out for help and get talking.
In taking on this challenge, I hope to raise funds and awareness for Men's Minds Matter, a suicide prevention organisation which focuses on men's mental health and suicide prevention, encourages more open conversations amongst men and runs campaings tackling the male suicide crisis.
If you are able to donate, share, or even just take a moment to reflect, thank you! Every contribution helps turn these steps into support and helps ensure fewer lives are lost in silence.
