Riff Raff 3 Peaks Challenge - Nathan’s Way
On April 30th i’ll be attempting to climb two of Britain’s three highest peaks as part of The Riff Raff Society’s 3 Peaks 24 hour Challenge.
Why?
Last year ‘The Blake’s’ tragically and completely unexpectedly lost their son Nathan aged just 26to a Sudden Adult Death of Cardiac nature .
For those folk that never met Nathan he was an absolutely gorgeous lad. His learning difficulties never stopped him extracting all the fun that this world had to offer. His amazing family always encouraged him to be his best and he was famous in Trafford for riding out his chopper style bike always with a massive smile on his face.
Mum Helen and Dad Cess and their boys plan to host a Heart Defect Monitoring Day in Trafford by partnering with a charity called Cardiac Risk in The Young. They plan to put on an event to check 100 possibly at risk young people for heart defects in our local area. Facilitating a day would cost approximately £10,000 but there is every chance it could save precious young lives of those at risk in our community.
It’s a wonderful gesture from a special family that in their own words just don’t know what else to do. They want to make a difference in Nathan’s name.
To do this at the end of April (Snow in Scotland) is madness (My husband Martin is mad - He’s doing the 3 peaks in a Mankini) but it also represents the challenge that my friend Helen and her family have faced since losing their beloved gorgeous boy.
Proud to be part of this as Nathan’s mum Helen who is also my walking buddy is a real inspiration and we will be braving this together.
If you could spare a donation?
I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks
Jo
