We are raising money for the Culbokie Community Trust to help build a new village centre on community owned land. The village has grown beyond the services that are available and this project will give it a new physical and social heart.
The first phase of the development will be a new community building with a café, a community shop, a bespoke health room and flexible indoor and under-cover spaces for community activities. These could include a crèche, group clinics, a lunch club, craft therapy, dementia support, technology training and family and kids activities. Outdoors will be an informal village square for community gatherings with seating and gardens which can be used for community growing projects. Later phases will include an enterprise building and some community housing. The total cost of Phase 1 is around £1million - and this will be our small contribution.
Our challenge is for both of us to complete at least 5 km of active travel every day in the month of April, whatever the weather - rain, shine, snow or gales, and however tired we are. This will include running, walking, cycling, kayaking and swimming (brrrr). We'll keep a diary to show we're really doing it, and disbelieving friends are welcome to join in to check!
We hope all our friends and families will support us to reach our target of £1,000 towards this project - and we'll match donations up to that amount.
