Fundraising

We first met the magical Ailith walking in the woods near our houses in Leeds, when Amy was pregnant with Bella and she was pregnant with Thalia. When Thalia was born, Ailith and her husband Kevin found out that she had Down Syndrome. There wasn't a support network in Leeds to help children and families living with Down Syndrome, so with other parents they set up their own, 'Sunshine and Smiles', now a registered charity running many activities, from baby groups to a cafe employing young adults with Down Syndrome. Since Sunshine and Smiles was set up, Ailith and Kevin have undertaken many fundraising challenges including Ailith inventing her own Triathlon, Tri 21!

This year we’ve decided to set ourselves a few challenges and try to raise some funds to support this amazing charity:

Challenge 1.

Having run a 50 mile race along the South Downs Way from Worthing to Eastbourne last year, Amy will attempt to run the a 50 mile race along the SDW from Arundel to Winchester in training for… ✅ completed!

Challenge 2.

Amy will run the London Marathon in reverse at Midnight the night before the official race. ✅ completed!

Challenge 3.

A 100 mile non stop race from Winchester to Eastbourne.

Challenge 4.

We’ll both be attempting the Giant’s Head trail marathon on our wedding anniversary, what better way to celebrate 22 years?! (Sorry Will!)

Challenge 5.

We’ll be finishing with a fast paced road half marathon, The Great North Run, then attempting to survive a night out on the Toon with our friend Dave!
