Hey Facebookers. I’m on bended knee here (but not for too long because I’ve got a bit of a dodgy right knee), and this is my plea...
I’m really hoping that 150 of you can pledge a £1 to Belle’s Story and help us to make life easier and rosier for those little uns who don’t get dealt a good set of cards and struggle daily with life changing illnesses.
For this quid, I’ll attempt to hobble round a half marathon...dressed as a unicorn. There will be photos. Probably tears. And lots of wine afterwards.
We’re raising awareness about organ donation, trying to get folk to talk about it with their families. It’s not an easy topic, especially when you have to consider your children, but I look at it like this: if either of my babies needed a new heart or pair of lungs, would I accept them from another child in order to save or prolong their life? Of course I would.
For our gorgeous Belle, her new lungs weren’t found soon enough and in April of this year, aged only 10, she tragically lost her fight to Interstitial Lung Disease.
I know many of you have followed her story and I know that I jam your Facebook feeds with A LOT about the charity and organ donation but I also know how much those lungs would’ve meant to Belle and her family and it breaks my heart that we didn’t find them for her. If we can raise enough awareness to alter the course of even one young person’s life, I’ll be made.
In the meantime, these brave kids need additional resources and services and lots of fun and sparkle to be packed into what is probably a limited lifetime.
Charities like Ty Hafan children’s hospice and Make A Wish gave our little Belle such magical experiences and the best memories for her Mum and Dad to treasure.
Belle’s Story supports charities such as these and others, as well as children’s wards and young individuals, helping to give their lives that extra bit of Belle Sparkle.
And if you can’t donate money, perhaps you could share this? That would be ace.
