BEN NEVIS CHALLENGE 2019

This year we are taking on the highest mountain the UK has to offer!
 
Members of the Northampton Sikh Community are planning a charity mountain climb of Ben Nevis next month and are supporting a number of charities such as The Lewis Foundation, The Hope Centre and The Sikh Community Centre.

The Lewis Foundation:  
They initially started off with giving 80 gift packs a month to one ward with a choice of 8 gifts, which was Talbot Butler Ward in Northampton General Hospital. However, the demand for the gift packs grew. They then provided their gifts to the day patients in Northampton General Hospital.  Over a 3 year period they now provide their gifts at 6 hospitals within East Midlands. In addition to Northampton General Hospital, they also visit BMI Three Shires, Northampton, Kettering General Hospital, Bedford Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust. They now provide 2000 free gift packs a month to cancer patients in hospitals and have a selection of 27 gift packs available.
The Hope Centre:
Hope is a community charity owned by local people, doing good things in Northampton for local people:
- We provide practical services that help people survive poverty and homelessness
- We help people to leave poverty and homelessness through giving training and skills to improve employability
- We campaign against poverty and negative attitudes and poor treatment towards our client group

Sikh Community Centre:
Our aim is to improve the quality of life of all inhabitants of Northamptonshire through structured provision of support services, education, integration, leisure, social, health, culture and issue based facilities to all ages and backgrounds, in a safe environment.
