On Saturday 18 June 2022 'Bessie' will be taking part in the Eddystone Charity Pursuit. The boat is owned and skippered by Andrew Eccleston who is a volunteer with Horizons Plymouth and former Chair of Trustees. We will have on board Horizons' volunteers Catherine Martin and Jim Brown as well as Isaac, Ella and Alfie - three of the young people who sail regularly with this Children's Sailing Charity. We help disadvantaged and disabled children from the inner city communities of Plymouth. We do this by providing learning and educational opportunities that increase self-confidence and improve social and practical skills, through water-based activities that would normally be beyond the means of these children. In a normal year, we take over 1,000 different children sailing in almost 3,000 individual sessions. To keep our children safe on the water we need the best equipment and staff - which is why we have to work hard at fundraising. We need your support to keep doing this important work. Last time the event took place in 2021 we got close to our target of £1,000 - and also picked up some prize money. With your help we can do even better in 2022! Find out more about our charity at www.horizonsplymouth.org 'Bessie' is a Dufour 36 Classic and we will sail out to the Eddystone Light from Plymouth, and back again. It's about 26 miles.
