In the year of 2022, a staggering 34% of children in Wales are living in poverty. In Swansea alone, this translates to 24,038 children.
I want take on the challenge of trekking across the desert because the issue of children living in poverty is something that really affects me. The statistics are shocking, and knowing that so many children are growing up without basic necessities like food, shelter, and care is heartbreaking. It drives me to do something to help change that.
This cause is personal. I believe every child deserves a fair chance in life, regardless of their circumstances. Poverty affects everything in a child’s life—health, education, and future opportunities—and I can’t ignore that.
The desert trek is not just a physical challenge for me; it’s a way to push myself while raising awareness and funds for a cause that matters. It’s a way to stand in solidarity with those who are struggling and use my strength to support them. By raising money for Faith in Families, I hope to help provide the resources families need to break the cycle of poverty.
This trek will have a huge impact on me personally. It’s not just about achieving something for myself, but about knowing I’ve done all I can to support children and families in my community.
