On the 3rd June I’m running in the Blaise Blazer to mark what would have been my Mum’s birthday. It is being held in a place she spent so much time as a child and is on the day she would have turned 80. We’ve also decided to turn it into a fundraiser as there will be no presents to buy my mum this year.

Having already raised money for a cancer charity last year we have chosen Bristol Autism Support, who as it happens are having a big birthday fundraiser. Kate, who set up and started up the organisation 7 years ago has put her heart and sole into this not-for-profit social enterprise which provides information, support and training for parents and carers of autistic children in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Over the past several years, funding for council and NHS-run support have been cut to the bone. Children with autism are being denied the support they need and voluntary, not for profit organisations like Bristol Autism Support are needed more than ever right now. All money raised will go directly towards supporting parents and carers of autistic children.
