I'm running the Bognor 10k in May 2026 (on my birthday) to raise money for Reaching Families, a local charity helping to support parents and families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in West Sussex. I began running in June 2025 and this will be my first 10k ever! After battling Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 24, I never thought running would be possible, so this will also be a massive personal achievement. 

I am also a parent carer to a 7-year-old who is diagnosed Autistic and ADHD, with many other struggles, so I know firsthand how much this support is needed. Reaching Families has been there since before my son’s diagnosis, when I was feeling lost and when no-one would listen, to getting his diagnoses and through the EHCP process. Parent carers are all too often left to fight battles alone, but Reaching Families provides a variety of services to empower parents and give families much needed information, guidance, and support. 

Reaching Families have been an invaluable support to me and thousands of other families across West Sussex. They offer advice, guides, training, befriending and support groups when vulnerable families need help the most.
