K&DMS are delighted to partner with our local favourite the Bonzo Lounge. Located in central Keynsham, a massive 20m from the K&DMS office (!) they are well known locally for a great tapas menu, pub quiz, bingo, and are an accessible bar used by many.
Keynsham & District Mencap Society is a completely self-funded local charity providing social opportunities in the form of clubs. These clubs offer people with a learning disability a place for fun and friendship. Our 9 weekly clubs welcome adults and children affected by a range of issues such as Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Williams Syndrome. Some members also have autism, other neurodivergence, physical disabilities and more complex needs. Our members travel from 3 local authorities, Bristol, BANES and South Glos., from Yate and Nailsea, from Bath and Bristol for our excellent services which are run from rented halls in Bath and Keynsham. We have 3 children’s clubs and 6 for adults. Go Explore is a club for 18–25-year-olds, which bridges the space between adolescence and adulthood, and have a variety of activities for young people to enjoy. Our 9 clubs, including a music and performance club, have a varied programme of confidence-boosting activities, which take into account the individual care plans of each member. The clubs are: football, fitness, music performance, bowling, and other general clubs where people do a variety of activites over the year. They might do cooking and craft, outings to a local restaurants, circus skills, yoga or have expert visitors such as the line dancing or reptile handline professionals. Everything we do is fully inclusive and is supported by our team of over 80 volunteers, all of whom are trained and checked. https://www.facebook.com/keynshammencap
