I am fund raising for Murtle Market based at Camphill School Aberdeen, a vibrant new social enterprise located at the entrance of its Murtle Estate, offering organic produce grown on-site, handcrafted goods, a refillery service for dried food, as well as a welcoming café. This exciting development represents a significant milestone in Camphill’s commitment to fostering connections with the local community and supporting the growth of inclusive opportunities, whilst keeping sustainability and the environment at the forefront of everything they do.
Murtle Market is more than just a marketplace, it is a hub for community engagement and sustainable living, providing the local community with access to wholesome food and environmentally friendly shopping, in a beautiful space for people to connect. A heritage hub within the market will celebrate the rich history of the Murtle Estate, further deepening ties with the surrounding area. It is a shining example of the positive contribution that public-facing initiatives from Camphill communities bring to the wider community. By inviting the public to engage with its offerings, Camphill fosters a sense of togetherness, shared purpose and encourages mutual understanding. It provides not just a place for skill-building and meaningful work for those involved but also enriches the local area, meaning the community benefits too.
Murtle Market is part of Camphill School Aberdeen’s broader vision for long-term development, which includes the eagerly anticipated opening of a new residential home on the Murtle Estate in 2025. Designed to provide specialised support for young people aged 16-25 with learning disabilities and complex needs, the residential home will also offer opportunities for independent living and serve as a home for support staff and volunteers.
