Why we need your help
CWT are raising funds for its exciting new COMPASS project which will transform the former Waldorf School site, Craigton Road, Aberdeen into a centre demonstrating practical solutions for healthy, sustainable lifestyles. Find out more about the project below or on our website.

We have a lot of fundraising to do so that we can restore and re-purpose the site for the benefit of the local and wider community of Aberdeen.

Phase 1: September 2020 – September 2021  |  Fundraising Target: £200,000 Achieved
What we've done so far:
  • Tidied outdoor areas with composting and recycling
  • Restored paths and steps
  • Surveyed trees and completed first year management
  • Increased site security to counter crime and vandalism
  • Completed essential building repairs
  • Begun sustainable refurbishment and re-purposing of some buildings
  • Set up demonstration garden plots and harvested our first crops
  • Appointed project co-ordinator
  • Engaged with local community

Phase 2: October 2021 – September 2023  |   Fundraising Target: £1.5 million
Our plans:
  • Develop master plan for revitalisation across whole site
  • Refurbish and open the multi-purpose hall for community groups
  • Zero-Waste kitchen / cafe for processing onsite produce and education
  • Establish food smokery unit as part of circular economy
  • Establish therapeutic activities for social prescribing
  • Develop land-use e.g. wild meadow, composting project, outdoor 'gym'
  • Appoint Outdoor Areas Coordinator: achieved
  • Seek funding for Outdoor Areas Manager
  • Scope and cost sustainable heating solutions for each building
  • Continue sustainable refurbishment & re-purposing of buildings
Phase 3: dependant on funding  |  Fundraising Target: £5 million
Timing and progress in Phase 3 onwards will be dependent on funds raised. Staged refurbishment of main building will be a major aim in Phase 3 onwards but has already begun in Phase 1.
