Why a sky dive ?
It’s become clear to me over the years that there is such importance in stepping out of your comfort zone. It’s rewarding and gives you such a great opportunity to learn more about yourself than you ever would. I have realised that I always need ‘the next big thing’ the next challenge, competition or aim to strive towards filling me with adrenaline. So as my 21st birthday approaches why not throw myself out of a plane for charity? Many people say there’s no better feeling than a skydive. The adrenaline, the freedom and ultimately the fear you overcome so in August it’s my turn to see what it’s all about.
Why Als Pals ?
Als pals is offered to all cancer patients as a support system during their treatment. I think we can all agree that sadly cancer has torn through everyone’s lives at some point. Of course the treatment is so critical for these patients but sometimes a hand to hold or just someone to help them be more comfortable in this time is all they need to help them. It is also important to note the friends and families of those suffering with cancer may also need support and comfort. This is exactly what ALS Pals helps with. They aim to provide emotional, befriending and advocacy support to cancer patients and their families both in hospital and in their homes. They do this by continuously providing choice for those affected if they want to be helped by phone or in person or just in a community environment. Giving those affected the opportunity to make a choice based on their own needs in a time where it may feel their own choices and decisions are taken away from them. So AlsPals feels just right.
