In memory of my dad Kevin who sadly lost his life to cancer over 5 years ago and was originally from the Wallsend area of Newcastle, I’m running 90 miles in May to raise awareness for the amazing work they do at the Aurora Well-being Centre. My goal was to simply raise awareness of this incredible charity however a few people have asked if they can sponsor my challenge so here is my Local Giving page if you would like to contribute to this worthy cause - they truly make a difference to the lives of those living with cancer

A bit more detail about Aurora’s amazing work in the community:Aurora provides a free package of support to local people and their families affected by cancer in Doncaster and Bassetlaw. Your donation helps us do that. Aurora has centres located at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Scott Lane in Doncaster, Montagu Hospital in Mexborough, and the Old Library Building in Worksop, where we support local people from the point of diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.

Why the community needs us
Our centres are a vital hub for information and advice, providing a free package of support and services that are bespoke to each individuals’ needs. These include: counselling and support groups, courses & workshops, also exercise classes. Aurora provides professional hair and beauty treatments, holistic therapies, advice on skincare and hair loss - to help boost self-esteem and confidence whilst undergoing, and recovering from cancer treatments.

Our impact in the community
Aurora helps local people cope with the emotional, practical and psychological issues that a cancer diagnosis can bring, and we are here for anyone affected. We welcome everyone in the community into our centres, to enjoy our charity shops and a homemade meal in our tearoom. Thank you for your support.
