I'm going to abseil down the world's largest abseil tower - the National Lift Tower, Northampton on Saturday 25th September 2021 - (www.nationalabseilteam.co.uk)
I'm doing this in aid of Ailsa's Aim, a charity run by Niven and Sara Whatley (my brother and sister-in-law) - www.ailsasaim.co.uk
I'm hoping to raise £150 (or more!) for the charity and the vital causes it supports.
Ailsa's Aim mission was originally founded as a way to payback the generosity and support that Sara and Niven had during a very difficult time for their family. In 2018 having struggled for 6 years to conceive they were finally successful with IVF treatment. Since the start of the pregnancy they faced numerous difficulties including Sara being diagnosed with gestational diabetes and a rare form of cancer (diagnosed at childbirth). The family welcomed baby Ailsa Whatley (charity namesake) into the family into December 2019, however, she was rushed to SCBU for special care for the first 4 weeks of her life due to being premature and Sara was required to undergo intensive chemotherapy for 5 months.
Thankfully both mum Sara and daughter Ailsa are now fit and well now and Sara has been in remission for her cancer.
Sara and Niven now dedicate their free time to driving forwards with the charity to help others by creating, sourcing and delivering some of life's little personal comforts to those in need, ailment and distress and to offer a 'ray of sunshine' for people's lives during hard times.
Please visit Ailsa's Aim website for more information and personal background and history to this vital charity and to why it was funded - www.ailsasaim.co.uk
Thank you for choosing to donate and support this family run charity, and every bit of money will help to support others who may go through similar circumstances.
