The Corndel Advance Team have decided to fundraise for Gospel Oak Action Link Youth Club as part of our Corndel LEJOG Team Challenge! We have set ourselves a target to raise £500 for Gospel Oak Action Link Youth Club and virtually cover the distance between Land’s End and John o’ Groats following a walking route totalling 874 miles. We will collectively clock up the miles by walking, cycling, rowing, swimming or running the distance and will be logging our progress via regular updates.

GOALYC is a volunteer-led charity based in the deprived Queen’s Crescent area of Camden NW5. They work in partnership with the local community centre (QCCA) from whom we rent premised, obtain staff on an agency basis and synchronise programmes so free sport and youth activities for young people are available every weekday evening and during school holidays. This arrangement reduces overheads allowing us to concentrate resources and energy on young people. GOAL operates from the Dome, a wonderful (albeit temporary) facility with a club room, gaming and computer rooms, gym kitchen and large inflatable sports hall. The majority of GOAL’s young people are from the overcrowded and run-down social housing estates clustered around Queens Crescent. This multi-ethnic area falls in the most deprived 10% in England.  Their youth service offers immediate and tangible support to children and young people who were adversely affected by the pandemic and are being impacted by the cost-of-living-crisis. To help ease the effects of the cost-of living crisis they have arranged for partner QCCA to fund Dome Cooked meals for young people and that their families are aware of the local food bank run by QCCA.
