I'll be trekking 100k across the Sahara Desert to support Nugent's work around dementia care.
Nugent's Lime House is looking to convert it's lounge into a multifunctional activity room for their residents with dementia to promote cognitive and social stimulation, and a staff training room.
Having lost mum to dementia in December 2022 this is a cause close to my heart. Dementia is such a cruel disease. You see the person you love deteriorate before your eyes. Its only after they have been released from its grip that you understand that each day you saw them was the best you would ever see them again.
I've also found it tough to grieve as in the end it was a release when mum left us.
Doing this trek will help me do my bit in supporting dementia sufferers and their families going through what our family went through.
Its only going for a walk in desert tbf! Its the least I can do!
