I am delighted to say that I have been offered a place on the latest Edventure Start-Up course starting March 2020.
This year we will be developing a bicycle workshop for local people to share and learn the skills needed to repair, maintain and refurbish bikes; in the hope that it will encourage more people to cycle more often, whilst bringing people together, cutting carbon emissions, saving on land-fill waste and creating meaningful employment opportunities in the process.
As part of the course the applicants have been asked to raise funding for the project, and I've set myself a target of £250. I will be donating a percentage of my earnings from any projects I do for myself or other people - be that restoration, furniture, gardening, artwork or general handyman work - and ensuring I do as many craft fairs and carboot sales as I can between now and the 9th March.
As well as this I am training for a sponsored cycle from Frome to Bristol, which I will do on Friday the 13th March. The journey is about 28 miles along a cycle path via Bath, and it should take about 3 hours. This may may not sound like much but as a smoker, lover of fine beer and a relaxation aficionado I will definitely find it challenging! I would really appreciate any contributions to help me reach my target and to support this excellent community project.
I will try to update this page with my progress, and with pictures of the event when I actually do it!
Many thanks,
Dom
