ESCAPE is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the initial self-help group that was the beginnings of our charity. We are trying to raise funds to enhance our Respite provision for Families Affected by a Loved Ones Addiction.
The families we support are living highly stressful lives and even the smallest break accessing activities in their local community along with others who are experiencing similar problems can make a significant difference to their mental health and wellbeing and reduce their isolation.
Please donate any amount you can to help us to provide the respite opportunities and support these families so desperately need.
One of our beneficiaries wrote the poem below which demonstrates what the support we provide means to people:
Friends
“Just Walking Each Other Home
Connected by Chance, friends by choice
Helping each other grow stronger
Making sure they hear our voice
Hope where we felt none
Laughter to chase away our tears
Smiles we thought had gone
For some of us for years
Strength when we lost ours
Keeping down that inner scream
Safe to be vulnerable
Turning nightmares into dreams
Words I heard that touched my soul
Yet our world to you, must be unknown
“At the end of the day
We’re all just walking each other home”
Friends taking care of each other
Connected no longer alone
Just walking this path together
Walking each other home.
