I decided to challenge myself to do an Ironman hoping it would help my mental health. On this journey, I thought it would be great to see if I could help others too.
Paul, a member of my team does amazing work for Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue giving 256 hours in 2018 to help find missing children and vulnerable adults in Berkshire.
On call 24/7, 365 days a year with a team or around 80 certified Search technicians, 26 Medics, 16 Water rescue, 4 Drones, 2 boats. In 2018 they did 63 missing persons searches.
Due to cut backs in the main Emergency services volunteer organisations are being called on more and more. The team are now working with Police and Fire covering Drone surveillance in major incidents when the Police helicopters are not available.
They run Technician, Team Leader, Search Planner courses for all the teams in the country at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, normally 3-4 per year, training in the region of 150 people per year. Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue really are a key pillar to our emergency services to keep us and our families safe.
Please join me in raising money for Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue knowing your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £10 or £500.
Every little bit helps to alleviate distress and suffering for missing persons and their families.
