What am I doing?
On the 12th October 2025 I will be attempting to run my first ever half marathon!
I have three goals:
Make it across the finish line!🏅
Get a sub 2.5hr time...🚀
and most importantly raise at least £500 for a fantastic charity🏳️⚧️
Who am I doing it for?
Gendered Intelligence are a trans-led and trans-involving charity that works to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve the lives of trans people. They deliver a range of services, projects and activities to trans, non-binary, and gender questioning people, as well as a range of educational, training and consultancy services to organisations and individuals who are working to better their inclusive practices. They also engage with public policy and seek to influence legislation, the media, policy and research at a national level.
Why am I doing it?
Trans rights and visibility are facing a rollback across the world and in Britain. Transgender people have always played a vital role fighting for the rights and liberation of queer people, despite being one of the most targeted and at-risk groups. These stats from stonewall UK highlight just a few of the issues trans people face:
One in eight trans employees (12 per cent) have been physically attacked by a colleague or customer in the last year
Half of trans people (51 per cent) have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination
Almost half (48 per cent) of trans people don’t feel comfortable using public toilets through fear of discrimination or harassment.
A quarter of trans people (25 per cent) have experienced homelessness
Two in five trans people (41%) have experienced a hate crime or incident because of their gender identity.
