To celebrate my 50th year I wanted to take on a challenge.

So on Sunday 15th March I will be participating in the Wigan Half Marathon.

I've been quietly training for some time - but the 13 mile distance still seems like a long way.

This year I will be raising funds for a local charity which is very close to my heart: Daffodils Dreams.

Maureen and her team of amazing volunteers provide essential items, gifts and experiences for young people across Wigan and Leigh. They even help young people to prepare for life events like proms, interviews and even funerals.

The work that Maureen and her team do doesn't end there, they organise charity events; balls, challenges, fashion shows and walks. They also organise events and activities in their community lounge.
