Throughout the summer of 2023 I'll be doing a watered-down version of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge. I was originally going to take part in an official Y3P day with work but was unable to due to a kneecap injury. In the last two years my fitness and mobility have improved dramatically and I've discovered a love of hiking, so I decided to do a middle-aged, menopausal, dodgy knee version of the challenge - and tackle them one at a time throughout the summer and without the 20 mile walk in between. (Kudos to my colleagues who did the actual proper version in June this year, and RIP to their toenails!)
I'm fundraising for the amazing local group Calder Food Support. As well as providing food packs for people struggling with the cost of living crisis, they offer support and advice, and are this summer holding fun days for children whose families can't afford a holiday this year. When even those of us with jobs are worrying about prices and household budgets, this sort of work is vital this year and I'd love to support the amazing work they do.
My work, MPM Products Ltd, is an incredible, ethical employer and will match any funds I raise up to £250 so I'd love to hit that target and donate a meaningful amount to this great group.
Schedule:
- Pen-y-Ghent (completed 2 June 2023)
- Ingleborough (July 2023, exact date weather dependent, but hopefully 15/16th). UPDATE - COMPLETED 6 August)
- Wernside (August 2023, exact date weather dependent)
