About

The Developing Health and Independence Charity works with youngsters aged 13-17. This charity provides flexible and non-judgemental space for children to share their experiences, help them understand the facts and risks around using drugs and alcohol including the impact of using these on their mental and physical health and social life. For most children alcohol and drugs are part of growing up.  Children try these substances for various reasons.  However, some abuse these substances to deal with other issues e.g. domestic violence, child sexual exploitation, bullying, mental health difficulties or parental substance misuse.  I support this charity which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year. I will face one of my worst fears by skydiving to raise funds to support their work as I strongly believe that if we can empower and support our children to make wise choices based on clear information then we can promote a happier and healthier society.
