I will be running my second Half Marathon for Salford Foodbank. After completing the Great North Run in 2017, without doing any training beforehand, I was pretty chuffed with my time of 2 hours 20. However, I had always said I would like to do another half & go below 2 hours.
I wasn't planning on running another one for charity, however when I saw the opportunity to run for Salford Food Bank I knew I couldn't say no. Over the past few years, the company I work for has done a lot of work with them, both fundraising and volunteering, and through this I have seen the amazing work they do. Perhaps the biggest eye opener for me was on the 21st December when we dropped off a donation for the food bank whilst it was open for people to collect their food supplies. The number of people who were having to collect food during the 20 minutes we were there really shocked me, and so I want to raise as much money as I can so that they can continue their fantastic work.
