Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45. My kind, funny and wind up of a brother Charlie became part of this awful statistic in 2023.

Last year I took part in the 50k in 30 days for Men’s Minds Matter. This year I am doing the same. Men and boys lives are worth living, and too often they make the decision that they aren’t. I want to fight and show my support for men and boys across the country in memory and honour of my brother, my mothers son, my nieces dad. He was more than just a man, he was a significant part of our lives. I know many families who feel the same and I know there will be men and boys who need to access help to remind them of their true worth and value.

Too often this topic is talked about, not acknowledged or it’s left behind. I’m calling for an end to the stigma that men have to hide their feelings.

It pains me, but I can’t bring back my brother but I can be part of something that will save other men and boys lives in his honour.
