Amir came to the UK 14 months ago after fleeing Iran and government pressures, threatening his life. He has worked as a ship officer for 8 years, in his final role before fleeing he became a chief officer, second in demand to the captain for up to 220 metre long VLCC tanker and container ships.

Amir needs to take a course in ROC - A restricted Operators Certificate that will enable him to continue his career as a mariner! He has 1 month before his licence (COC) would be suspended and he would have to start the process of becoming a deck officer and all qualifications that go with it from the beginning. We need to raise £1049 to pay for Amir's ROC course and travel and accommodation in Aberdeen!

Amir has lived in Swindon for 4 months, he has been regularly attending The Harbour Project - supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Swindon and the staff, volunteers and visitors of the project know him as a very kind and driven individual. Amir wants to get through the difficult UK aslyum process and live a safe life, eventually being able to pursue the career that he has worked so hard for! Help get him there!
