2024 is now upon us and its that time of year to dig out the Lycra and warm up the lube!!
Milton Keynes rugby club Ring of Fire has returned, we aim to cycle approx 350 miles from Paris to Milton Keynes. Sounds like an only fools & horses title. I can assure you it isn’t there are no horses to be used and the only “ fools” are the ones on the bikes!!
I will be taking part in this challenge over 4 Days and if we survive the initial 2 laps of the Champs Elyse roundabout ( if you know you know ) I will make it back to Milton Keynes unscathed.
We will start our adventure in Paris on the 15th May, cycling through Gisors, Dieppe, Newhaven, London & finally getting to Milton Keynes on the 19th May. All mommies raised go to these deserving charities.
Willen Hospice - Willen Hospice cares for end of life patients and their families in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. The Hospice is run by local people for local people. We are proud to deliver calm, compassionate care in a tranquil environment, helping people to really make the most of the time they have left with their loved ones.
In 2021/2022 the cost of providing our specialist palliative care services was £5.9m. That’s £16,164 every single day, to ensure we are always there to care for those who need us.
22% of our costs were met by NHS funding, leaving a £4.5m gap to fill to ensure we could deliver our charitable services. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of all of our supporters.
However, that leaves 78% of our income that we need to raise ourselves.
A staggering £11,23 every minute.
4Ed - In July 2022 Gloucester Rugby player Ed Slater announced his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and thus the 4Ed campaign was created to raise awareness and funds in support of Ed and his family’s battle with the disease. What followed was an outpouring of support, generosity, and kindness from the rugby family across the UK and the World.
MKRUFC - a local rugby club dedicated to development.
