I will be joining Edventure (www.edventurefrome.org)as a student this March and will learn new skills through spending 10 weeks setting up this community enterprise. Edventure Frome runs free courses helping young adults to move towards livelihoods that matter to them. My own dream is to work as a therapist I want to gain the confidence to be able to go to university this September.
As part of the course I have been asked to do some fundraising and therefore, starting from the 5th of February, I will be walking 10,000 steps a day for one month and I would greatly appreciate my friends and family support.
The enterprise will be a Community Bike Workshop for FromeThis spring, students from Edventure Frome will be developing a bicycle workshop for local people to learn/share skills, to repair, maintain and refurbish bikes - and maybe even make products or art from old bike parts. The Edventure Start-Up Course is a free, 10-week, part-time, experiential course in community enterprise. Students will learn skills as they set up a community bicycle workshop on the site of The Bike Shed at a local school (Critchill School). The team will put together different programmes based on what the Frome community wants. The project is a partnership between Edventure, Critchill School and their Bike Shed, Frome Town Council and other groups. The aim is to get more people in Frome on two wheels more often, to bring people together, to upskill people, cut carbon emissions, save land-fill waste and create meaningful employment opportunities.
