- Cycling the UK for refugees and asylum seekers -
Dear all, we are cycling the entire length of the UK from Lands Ends to John O’ Groats for a great charity that Francisco works for, Borderlands, which supports refugees and asylum seekers in Bristol. For this very challenging adventure we have been training, preparing our bikes and organising the trip since the beginning of March.
As an organisation, Borderlands relies entirely on donations to realise it’s amazing work. Without the vital services it provides to refugees and asylum seekers, these people would be left stranded. Providing mentoring services, help with accommodation, hot meals and food packages and even helping with legal fees, the service exists to help integrate it’s member’s into the fabric of UK society.
This is our first big challenge as cyclists, but we have been training hard for it and we are confident that no matter how many hills we encounter, no matter how rainy the UK is or how far Scotland is we are going to get there in approx.15 days!
We are launching this crowdfunding campaign to raise money for Borderlands. This fundraising goal will motivate us for each pedal stroke, to advance every metre towards our goal. We will of course keep you posted about the progression of our journey with some pictures and posts 😊.
These are very difficult times for everyone in general, but specially for refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable immigrants. We know that this may not be the best time to contribute financially but know that every penny contributed will go towards people with who really need it. Please share it among your friends, on social networks, via WhatsApp and email. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page will be of great help to us and all those at Borderlands. Thank you very much for reading, for being there, for sharing and for helping.
