I am running the York Marathon on Sunday the 19th October, raising money for Camphill Wellbeing Trust.
One of the many services they offer is a treatment called Mistletoe Therapy.
Mistletoe Therapy aims to help the lives of those struggling with cancer. However it is mainly financed by donations and fundrasing activities.
Mistletoe Therapy may offer a range of potential benefits
The best evidenced potential benefits include:
⁃ Improved quality of life (generally feeling better, increased appetite and weight, less tired/more energy, reduced pain, better sleep pattern, feeling more hopeful and motivated).
⁃ Reduced adverse effects from chemo and radiotherapy.
Less well-evidenced potential benefits include:
⁃ Reduced risk of cancer spread and recurrence.
⁃ Improved life expectancy.
Mistletoe extracts have been shown in laboratory studies to:
⁃ Stimulate the immune system.
⁃ Cause cancer cell death.
⁃ Protect healthy cells against harmful effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
They aim to promote equality of access to their mistletoe therapy services through offering provision on a donation basis. This is why fundraising is so essential. It enables them to
provide cancer care services to those who need them most.
Unfortunately the mum of one of my oldest and closest friends was diagnosed with lung cancer last year and she has recently started mistletoe therapy treatment through Camphill Wellbeing Trust.
I will be running the race for her and for many others who are going through the same struggles.
Any of your donations no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
