GREAT NORTH RUN & 1 DRY MONTH

So.....I've decided to push myself outside my comfort zone and train for the GNR....I've ran for a little while now but this is something i'd love to achieve and what better way to raise money for an amazing Charity. I've also decided to do 1 dry month before the run due to the nature of the Charity which to be honest is freaking me out more than the GNR itself haha!!!

I've decided to run for a Charity called Escape who do the most incredible work!!

At ESCAPE we recognise that the family, carers and others supporting the individual require services in their own right.  We also know that they can often be instrumental in encouraging a substance user to access treatment. From our base, at the Susan Kennedy Centre in Ashington, we work across Northumberland with those affected by a loved ones drugs and alcohol, offering a range of services, courses and activities.

At ESCAPE we are committed to:

• Providing a range of high quality services to address the impact of substance misuse upon carers and families.
• Key-workers undertaking comprehensive carer assessments, producing personalised care-plans tailored to individual/family need, always ensuring interventions are selected and prioritised by the client.
• Focusing on a range of activities and services to achieve improved psychological, physical and mental wellbeing, including:
  • one-to-one support or counselling services
  • education, training and employment advice; nutrition and health education (including harm reduction)
  • Finance, budgeting and housing advice
  • Advocacy and support liaising with judicial, prison, probation and social services.
• Working in partnership with others to offer the fullest possible range of holistic, complementary and diversionary services.
• Building mutual support through drop-ins, social media support groups, befriending, volunteering opportunities, respite breaks and involvement in national, regional and local events.
