I'm about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of my life, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. I once saw its beautiful snow capped peak from my airplane window, and unless we were flying too low, the roof of Africa really is very high!
I'm thrilled to be taking on this challenge in support of Yorda Adventures, a charity based just outside London that run play projects for children and young people with significant learning or complex disabilities.
The wonderful warm smiley welcome from the children when I went to visit on a sunny summer's day will keep me going as I climb through the clouds for 6-7 days. Alexander (in the photo), my friend's lovely son greeted me with a double high five, perhaps not realising how much I needed his vote of confidence! He comes to the Playhouse after school and during the holidays, making new friends and enjoying the amazing environment. And this unique space will be even more incredible once the new sensory room has been completed. With your help and support we can create a really cool space that eveyone can enjoy.
The Yorda Playteam are committed to meeting every child’s needs and supporting families through their journey. I hope you will support my epic journey so that they can have an even more exciting and fun place to hang out and learn.
Finally, a special shout out to EQ Investors, who have social impact in their DNA and have generously agreed to match the first £1000 that raised - now there's an incentive if you need one!
