We offer a bespoke range of services to support families struggling to maintain a healthy family lifestyle, which includes one to one support at home or in the community by a trained Peer Mentor volunteer, group support for parents and their children, and a course for parents around managing a healthy lifestyle which includes practical cooking sessions.
Why they need our service
This project helps parents to address the negative impact of living with difficult circumstances on their own and their child's health and wellbeing. For the families we help, the stresses of family life under difficult circumstances whether poor health, emotional stress or financial difficulties, can lead to parents and children missing out on opportunities to live a happy and healthy life.
Plan and expected results
We support around 50 different families each year through the project, and approximately 70 different children benefit. Practical cooking within the healthy lifestyle courses take place at least twice a year for small numbers of parents at our base in Market Harborough, while their children under 5 are engaged in a separate child-focused healthy activity session.
