There are 450 school children at Ledbury Primary School. Many are eager to get their hands dirty whilst growing their own food in six new raised beds. A successful appeal will allow them to get stuck in! In doing so, they will learn about how plants grow, where their food comes from, and the benefits of healthy eating.
How the funding will be spentRaising £450 will help us kickstart the garden into action. The funds will be spent on equipment (spades, forks, and other gardening tools), compost, and plants as well as posters and other educational materials. This will provide six growing teams with the resources needed to start learning whilst growing their own fruit and veg.
How this will benefit the communityThis project aims to inspire passion in horticulture. It will build new growing skills. Children will develop the green fingers needed to enjoy growing their own food. The garden will also provide great opportunities for outdoor learning linked to various aspects of the school's curriculum. Gardening activities will also develop social skills and encourage healthy outdoor lifestyles.
