Next month I’ll be joining the 100K in May challenge to try and raise some money for a charity incredibly close to my heart. We Get It have offered support in some of the darkest of times and for that I’ll be eternally grateful. This May the We Get It team pull on their trainers and run, walk or cycle 100k to raise awareness. All funds go towards supporting local people dealing with cancer, through goodie bags, socials, and special community events. In June 2020 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. As a 40 year old mum of 4 young children at the time this completely blew our world apart. Within a week I’d had an operation to remove the whole right side of my bowel, I then went on to have 6 months of CAPOX chemotherapy which I completed in January 2021. During this time We Get It provided support and access to a community of people all living life and dealing with cancer. In October 2021 found out that my cancer has spread, and is now in my peritoneum, liver and lungs. I have also found out that my tumour carries the BRAF v600e mutation. I’m now on cycle 10 of a FOLFOXIRI and Avastin chemotherapy regime and my tumour markers are stable at the moment. We Get It have always been there to provide support and information for anyone who is dealing with cancer. I’ve met a community of people through We Get It who continue to provide me with friendship, strength and support as I navigate my way through living life with stage 4 cancer. So with that in mind it’s an absolutely honour to run, walk or cycle 100k in May to raise money for this fantastic charity that continue to support so many of us when we truly need it. Thank you We Get It. ‘We understand because we’ve been there.’ WE GET IT. DEALING WITH CANCER. TOGETHER https://www.wegetit.org.uk
