Mesothelioma (asbestos related cancer) is terminal and there is currently NO CURE. ERASE MESO is a 100% voluntary-run charity, raising awareness and funds for research.

I’m cycling from London to Brighton - my first ever ‘organised’ cycle! - on behalf of ERASE MESO to raise money to assist this research and help find a cure. I would be SO grateful for your support! I’ve heard there’s a ‘big hill’ at the END of the ride, so your donations will be especially helpful for getting me up this!

Survival rates for Mesothelioma are desperately poor. To put it into context, if you’re diagnosed with Mesothelioma, you have just a 6.6% chance of surviving, which is only slightly worse than pancreatic cancer (6.9%), but considerably worse than brain, liver, or lung cancer.
  1. Mesothelioma (6.6%)
  2. Pancreatic cancer (6.9%)
  3. Brain cancer (11.5%)
  4. Liver (12.1%)
  5. Lung (15.2%)
  6. Oesophagus (16.6%)
The UK has the highest incidence of mesothelioma in the world, with more than 5000 people diagnosed each year. Asbestos related cancer has previously been viewed as “an old man’s disease” however the numbers of cases continues to RISE. Tragically, we are now seeing this disease affecting more and more younger men and women.
Mesothelioma takes a long time to develop. It’s normal for people to get the first symptoms 30 to 40 years after they were first exposed to asbestos. It is also very difficult to diagnose until too late.

There is a desperate need for funds for research into prognosis and finding a cure - please help with this!
