Sussex Nightstop is an amazing charity which provides emergency accommodation for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Brighton & Hove.  Matching volunteer hosts with spare rooms with people who need them is such an ingenuous idea – so simple and yet it makes such an incredible difference to the people who need it.

My partner Sue and I have been increasingly concerned to hear about the fact that more and more people are facing the terrible prospect of sleeping rough and have been keen to do something to support. Our life doesn’t lend itself to being volunteer hosts at the moment so I was very happy to hear about the Sussex Nightstop Brighton Marathon fundraiser. I love marathon running (doesn’t make it easy!) and I love it even more when it’s raising money for an inspirational cause. So when Nightstop were awarded a marathon place for being one of the Brighton & Hove Mayor's Charities for 2019-20 it was a no-brainer. I’m hoping you’ll get behind me and support this amazing and effective response to homelessness by donating – whatever the size of donation it will help me get round those 26 miles of Brighton on April 19th 2020. The legs are not getting any younger after all!

I’d like to see Sussex Nightstop continue to be there for as long as they are needed – providing people with a safe night’s sleep and a safe haven from which to find a home.

On behalf of me and Nightstop - thank you for your support.  Best wishes Phil.

P.S. Sussex Nightstop are always looking for people to get involved – perhaps you live in or close to Brighton & Hove, have a spare room and are interested in being volunteers? Or perhaps you have your own fundraiser in mind. If so, get in touch with them and check out their website www.sussexnightstop.org.uk
