My story begins pretty much the same as most, life throws you a curve ball and the situation becomes so overwhelming you can’t see end or solution. You feel as though you have only have two options, give up or run away...
“I felt like giving up but then I remembered who was watching...”
There’s an irony in today where we men are told we should express our feelings and talk about our problems..
where do we go for that help?
Yes my friends are there for me without question or judgement.. but they have their families to look after and own problems to solve..
Yes, my family are there too.. but I've been their problem most my life and I'm a grown man now, I should be able to deal with it myself..
and yes, my partner is there for me any and every minute I need her.. but I’m the man, it’s my job to look after her..
and without them all I probably wouldn’t be writing this today.
Hiking and climbing mountains became my way of coping..
beasting myself over 20 mile of hills, mountains and countryside...
but I do recognise that this may not work for everyone
So on June the 21st I’ve decided to attempt the famous Fan Dance in the load baring category 35lbs and raise as much money as I can to help the guys at Men Minds Matter, to help others find the help they need...

The "Fan Dance" is a challenging 24km route march in the Brecon Beacons, part of the selection process for the British Special Forces (SAS/SBS). It's considered a significant physical and mental test, used as the first major indicator of a candidate's aptitude for the rigorous selection course.
